The Lovina dolphin watching tour begins before sunrise, when North Bali’s sea is at its calmest and pods of wild dolphins are most active near the surface. You’ll set out from the shore in a traditional outrigger boat, watching the sky turn pink over the water as your guide scans for movement. Sightings are frequent during the season, though these are wild animals in open water, so nothing is ever guaranteed. After the dolphin watching, the morning continues with a snorkeling stop, giving you a full look at both sides of Lovina’s marine life.
Pickup is early, between 02:30 and 03:00 AM, since dolphins are most active in the first hour or two after sunrise. Bali Touristic covers hotels across Seminyak, Legian, Kuta, Nusa Dua, Jimbaran, Pecatu, Sanur, Ubud, Canggu, Denpasar, Benoa Harbour, and the airport, so wherever you’re staying, your driver will collect you directly.
A memorable dolphin encounter shouldn’t come at the animals’ expense. Bali Touristic’s boats approach dolphins slowly and keep a respectful distance, never chasing, surrounding, or cutting across a pod’s path. Engine speed and noise are reduced once dolphins are nearby, and the dolphins are left to approach the boat on their own terms if they choose to. Time spent with any single pod is kept limited, and guests aren’t permitted to feed, touch, or attempt to swim with the dolphins. Your captain’s instructions are there to protect the animals as much as you, so it’s worth following them closely throughout the tour.
Your day starts with a private driver collecting you from your hotel between 02:30 and 03:00 AM, whether you’re staying in Ubud, Seminyak, Canggu, or anywhere else across South Bali. The early start is unavoidable if you want calm water and a real shot at the dolphins, but the drive gives you a chance to doze off before the action begins. Once you reach Lovina, you’ll transfer onto a private boat and head out to the center of the bay to watch the sunrise and the dolphins together.
After the dolphin watching, the boat brings you to a snorkeling spot for about an hour, where you can see Lovina’s reef life up close with mask, fins, and snorkel all provided. The higher price here reflects the full package: a private driver from wherever you’re staying in South Bali or Ubud, guided snorkeling, and breakfast included, rather than just a seat on a shared boat.
A couple of practical notes: snorkeling is open to guests aged 8 to 65, and the tour isn’t recommended for pregnant travelers or anyone with certain medical conditions or allergies. Full payment is required at the time of booking and isn’t refundable, so it’s worth confirming your dates before you pay.
