About Pecatu Shooting Range
Pecatu Shooting Range is Bali’s only outdoor shooting range, and that distinction matters. While every other shooting venue on the island operates indoors or runs airsoft-only setups, Pecatu puts you on an open-air firing line with real firearms and live ammunition. If you’ve been searching for a genuine shooting range Bali experience, this is the one that actually delivers it.
Located on the Bukit Peninsula in Pecatu, South Bali, roughly 25 minutes from Kuta and 20 minutes from Jimbaran, the range is built to IPSC competition standard, the same format used by competitive shooters worldwide. Whether you’re a seasoned shooter looking for a proper range day or a first-timer curious about what real firearms handling feels like, the facility is set up to accommodate both. All sessions are conducted under a valid tourist shooting licence, with a certified safety officer present throughout.
What Is IPSC Shooting?
IPSC stands for the International Practical Shooting Confederation, a global competitive shooting format that’s a long way from standing still and firing at a paper target. In an IPSC stage, you move through a course, draw from different positions, and engage multiple targets in a set sequence against the clock. Speed matters, but so does accuracy and technique.
At Pecatu, the range is laid out to IPSC competition standard, which means you’re not just pulling a trigger, you’re running a proper shooting course. For first-timers, it’s a surprisingly engaging way to experience real firearms. For anyone with a competitive shooting background, it’s a chance to shoot a legitimate stage in an outdoor setting that’s genuinely hard to find anywhere else in Bali.
Safety & Legal Compliance
Shooting real firearms as a tourist in Bali is legal, Pecatu Shooting Range operates under an official tourist shooting licence issued by PERBAKIN, the Indonesian shooting sports federation. The range is fully authorised to host civilian and tourist shooting sessions with live ammunition.
Before you step onto the firing line, every visitor goes through a mandatory safety briefing covering handling, range rules, and emergency procedures. A certified safety officer is present throughout your entire session. Eye and ear protection are provided and required at all times on the range. All live ammunition is handled on the range only, nothing enters or leaves the facility. The minimum age to participate is 18 years old.
